So I lightened my hair a bit and I'm always scared of doing that because it tends to turn red- or let's be honest orange. I swear it's the brunette curse. So after lightning it and it of course turning orange I panicked and ran to my hairdressers (literally, I showed up in my gym clothes) where she was kind enough to put a darker glaze on it. So when I was headed to Key West (yes, still recovering from that experience) this weekend I booked it to Ulta to see if I could find something with SPF in it so my hair wouldn't change in the sun from brown to looking like a copper penny (yes, for you fact conscious chicas I'm aware pennies are now mainly made of zinc)
Redken- Color Extend Sun Solar Screen SPF 12 $16 Finding a hair product with a specific amount of sunscreen was quite the daunting task. The shampoo I use claims it has UV filters but clearly those didn't work last time. I was dead set on finding an SPF 100 to block out all the rays. Alas, it was SPF 12 I had to settle for. Shockingly, it worked. I looked in the mirror post hours of laying out and swimming and I am still a brunette! It may have lightened a bit but honestly nothing compared to the color my hair was before the saving glaze. The smell is fine a little sunscreen-y smelling but I took that as this product is going to do it's damn job. I probably wouldn't use this stuff if I was planning on doing my hair and it looking nice but for the pool or the beach it serves it's purpose! So now that summer is here it's June 1st people- woohoo!! Get yourself some hair SPF it also protects that precious scalp of yours that never sees the sun! Get it at Ulta it's a decent size bottle that I expect should last me all summer long.
Hope this short week is off to a great start!
xx
